(Part 1 concerning why Salvation works: God has made salvation free) (This a little sample of a Book I am currently working on: God Never Fails, The Blood of Christ Never Fails me) Before we dive into the scenes of the cross I would like to address this particular issue that some in my day voice up. Some people think the atonement is primitive and obscene. They complain the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ is too bloody to be a god thing or even of good thing. To this I would say that mankind's problem is primitive and obscene, which is sin. All of the world's problems today are from one issue: Mans relationship to God. Instead of relating to God in relationship of beloved Master and Father our sins has turned this relationship into that of enemies and rebels! This is the source of every problem in the world today. All the environmental advancements, all the governmental improvements, all the gain in feeding world hunger, and all the striving for education will do nothing to solve the problems of the world. The world was already perfectly good when God first created it (Genesis 1:31). The way the world is now in all its horribleness is what man has made of it by his sinning and rebellious relationship to the Almighty God. And all this happened at the very beginning of time when man first turned his back on His good Creator and God. Therefore, it is a very primitive thing this sin is, very ancient. God is the "Father of lights." He is pure beauty and goodness. When He made the world He made it with all the tender care, wisdom, power and love that an infinite Supreme Being had at His disposal. Therefore, sin against such a Great God is the most horrible, obscene and incredibly ugly thing that has every happened. Sin is grotesque! This is why the cross and atonement of sin by Jesus Christ was primitive and obscene and, therefore, so bloody. When the Lord Jesus Christ went to the cross He was tackling a problem started many millennium ago introducing to the world something most obscene and horrific: disobedience against the King of the universe, the King of love! This is why the cross is so bloody and hard to look at. God told and warned man before he chose to sin that sin would result in death! Then told us that our sin would bring to us a curse. Therefore, Christ had to take upon Himself our "death" [1]and "curse." Obviously taking on someone's death and curse would be a horrible and ugly scene to look at! In this light the scene of the bloody cross makes perfect logical sense. Thank God that Jesus did this for us, for our sakes and removed our sin, death and curse from His beloved bride, the church. What a loving and compassionate God we obey and serve. Great is His Name is all the earth and may His marvelous Name be praise by all nations forevermore!
(1.) Wrath removed:
My father told me a dream God gave him when he had recently became a Christian and I wish to share it here. Although my dad had taken this dream on a more personal scale relating to God teaching him that he must forsake the cares of this life and hold onto Christ or else the world would take him away, I have always thought of this dream as a prefect example of salvation as well. In this dream my father was standing on a very large beach. As far as the eye could my father saw people were everywhere playing, partying and involved with the fun of life on the beach. My father was viewing all of this when something pulled his attention away. Far out in the ocean an unprecedented tsunami wave was headed straight for the beach! As he watched the tidal wave grew larger and larger. But the truly astonishing thing about this was that all the thousands of people on the beach where playing and sunbathing as though nothing was wrong! The wave was higher than skyscrapers in the city, how come no one was running away when everyone was looking right as the ocean and the horror that it was bringing! In utter silent astonishment my father watched as the wave got closer and closer only to realize: what was he going to do! He was soon to die with all these people for the wave was to big to run from, there was nothing to do. Except on this particular beach was some large stones and in the center of these stones was and incredible large tree, like a giant redwood. My father watched until the last second as the people below played and partied under the shadow of the upcoming doom. Then as the wave crashed my father ran in utter desperation and grabbed with all his might that strong and beautiful tree! As the mountain high wave hit, it hit with fierce power and speed. All the people on the beach were mashed and washed away in mere seconds! The only two left standing on the beach were the tree and my father grapping it! This story reminds of the people of Noah (Luke 17:27) who were playing and eating up until the last moment before the judgment of God came. It also reminds of the people Jesus describe in His day who were to busy with life, entertainments, religion and business that they made themselves like children, too silly to understand the seriousness and joy that Jesus Christ was proclaiming in the good news He was telling to the world. [2] But mostly it reminds of one aspect of the atonement that is not felt nor preached as it should. It is the necessity of the atonement! Luke 9:56, "The Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." People who need to be saved from something, such as drowning or chocking, means that your life is on the line! This is the type of saving that Jesus is referring to. He came to save us because the human race needed to be saved! We were in such a terrible state that much like the people on the beach we do not even know our lives are in mortal peril! Christ came to save us from the just Wrath of God Almighty from being poured onto us for the sins we each committed against Him and His Glory! The Lord Jesus Christ came to Save! One of the main reasons why the church has not grown in the last thirty years in America, is owning particularly to the loss of the necessity of bloodshed. Sin corroded hearts will always find ways to squirm from the purity of the gospel message particularly the necessity of if, people will find a way to trivialize it. Merely preaching about God's invitation of "relationship" or removal of "burly vision" caused by sin will not be enough to convince a sin deceived heart to submit to King Jesus. Unbelievers will find these offers by themselves, although they might even believe God does offer a great relationship, as unnecessary. Therefore, those who do not preach the wrath of God will case people to view the cross as unnecessary, although seemingly helpful. This is why relativism is rampant in my day. I hear it when I hear my generation saying: Christ might work for you, but I don't need Him. There is a major, major problem with type of statement. People should respond I hate Jesus or I don't believe in Him, but if they say to you, I don't need Him, simply means we have not preached the gospel, as we should have. [3] If all you say to an unbeliever is that Jesus offers a great relationship, then you have failed to preach the gospel and few if none will be saved. This is, one of the main reasons, why the church has not grown for 30 years, we have failed to preach the gospel in its entirety. At this point the unbeliever will often times tell me that they at least in part believe that God might exist and that He does offer a decently good relationship. But they will most often refuse the gospel. But why! Because they already have some good relationships, and thus views God's as unnecessary. A sinner according to the Divine Scriptures Loves Sin and does not wish to give up this love affair with it. A sinner will not bow at the cross of Jesus with true repentance if that cross is not necessary. If all God does is offer a good relationship and certain benefits, when why should a sinner who is in love with sin, by the power of Satan, chose to repent and take God's relationship if they don't have too! Why would they give up their sins, if they don't have to? This is the reality and horror of Sin's power, unless forced, the victim will not give up its suicidal love affaire this vampire called sin! When the soul of man, by the Holy Spirit, sees how (1) beautiful and (2) necessary the cross is then sin losses it power. Accordingly, by seeing how necessary the cross is, in particular, this force the soul of man to finally come to grasp with God, sin and Hell and thus is forced to turn and appeal to God for rescue and salvation. The sinner already has so ok relationships. Although their relationships might not be prefect they are not horrific either, this is how they think. This is why when we preach we must preach about God's wrath as well as His offer of infinite joy of fellowship with Himself. Having God's relationship becomes necessary once people realize the refusal of repentance and acceptance of Christ is having God's wrath pour upon your sinful head for all eternity! When preaching the reality of God's wrath and punishment of sin the sinner cannot simply say they do not need saving, they must either say the hate or disbelieve in the Lord Jesus Christ. A sinner must face God's wrath against their sin so that they will see the absolute necessity of the Lord Jesus' bloodshed on the cross. Then in this light God offering eternal fellowship and relationship will be 100 times more sweet and beautiful and the sinner will see the true value of God's marvelous free offer of forgiveness and communion everlasting. True revival will not occur in America until the church rises up and again preaches the necessity of the bloodshed of the Lord Jesus Christ. We must preach both sides of the message of the gospel: the reality of hell's flames and the sweetness of Heavens communion! But people tell me that they don't like hell. Well, yea they're not suppose to! The Gospel preaches that Hell is horrible so that the cross becomes necessary. This is why Jesus Christ our God preached more on Hell than he did about heaven, because it showcases His bloodshed for what it is, necessary! That is the whole point of making it sound so bad, because it is! If we made hell sound nice, then why would a sinner in love with his sin find the cross as an absolute must? People say you can't tell sinners they will go to hell because then it will make then fell bad. Well, I would say that they need to feel bad because they are bad and done bad things to God. Therefore, they should have authentic repentance so that God's anger is taken away or that bad things don't happen to them! This is reality, it is why Christ's died under the wrath and punishment of the Father for us! He took our bad and sin onto Himself and received the bad that we deserved and the Father poured His wrath on His Son.
In order to love you must also hate to prove your love is authentic! You must hate evil if you wish to prove your love is true. In order to love you have to hate as well. In other words if a parent received news that their child was tortured and molested that parent would immediately feel and express both anger and hatred toward the person who did this toward their beloved child. This is how the parent proves their love. Is it possible for a child to believe their parents love them if mommy or daddy never expresses anger toward persons who badly hurt them? If a parent showed no anger and hatred to the person who badly hurt their child we would think this parent really does not love their kid. I remember telling my mom, as a small boy, when another boy hit me at school, how she would blow up at such a thing done to me and remember feeling in my heart how much my mother cared for me by her anger toward this person who hurt me. This is why I say that in order to love you must hate evil things done to the object of your love, for if you do not you demonstrate you love to be false and without value. This understanding will help support us in surveying the relationship of the Father to the Son and why then God damns persons to hell fire. The first thing to weight in our thoughts is the Divine revelation that God the Father infinitely loves His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 4:8, "He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." I dare say most do not consider what or to whom this verse is directed toward when it says, "God is Love." I would argue that it is Jesus Christ His Son to whom God is referring too. This is why the verse says that persons who do love are not from the God who is Love. Who or what has God being loving with infinite love and delight for all eternity? His glorious Son, Jesus Christ! "Colossians 1:13, "The Son of His love." Why does the Father love His Son so much? Hebrews 1:3, "[Jesus is] the brightness [or outshining] of His glory and the express image of His person." Not only is the Son the prefect outshining of the Father's infinite Holiness, beauty and happiness but the Son lives out His radiant Glory in true loving relationship and happiness personally toward His Father. 2 Peter 1:17, "He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Luke 3:22, "And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, "You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased." To understand the depth of this one must know what Christ was doing. Christ who is equal with God the Father in intrinsic worth, honor and right, out of personal love to His Father, obeyed His Father and humbly came to earth. He even submitted Himself under human law to obey it, which is why He was being baptized. It was during this personal act of loving obedience to His Father that the voice said: My beloved Son! This is to simply show that God the Father and Son have the most incredible personal Father and Son love relationship that could have ever possibly existed! The Father Loves Jesus Christ His Son so much that He wants all things summed up in Him and that Christ might have the absolute universal honor of: Supremacy and preeminence over all things for all times. [4] God the Father has, out of love to Christ, has given Him the highest honor and gift He could possible give Him. To say that God the Father loves His Son Jesus is of the greatest understatement. God INFINITELY loves His Son and desires to Honor His Son Jesus Christ and put Him on the highest pedestal. Seeing things in this light make it is easy to see the basic message of the cross, especially concerning making peace with God and having His anger totally removed. Here is how I would preach the gospel simply using this knowledge of the gospel in street langue. God the Father had infinite and immeasurable love a for His Son Jesus Christ: infinite LOVE. This love is so strong that God the Father has decided to place Jesus Christ on the Highest pedestal of Honor and majesty that could possibly be given to any one. Not just a high honor but the Highest honor the Father could give. This is how much God the Father loves His Son! Because of this, all of life's design, meaning and existence hangs on this Highest Honoring from the Father to His Son Jesus Christ. All of God's passions, desires, zeal, happiness, love and plans are centered on His Son Jesus Christ, with exalting and honoring Him! Therefore, since everything the Father does is about honoring His Son what do you think will happen to you if you dishonor His Son? In laymen's terms it can be stated like this. God has set His infinite love and power to Honor His Son Jesus Christ, therefore if you dishonor His Son, God the Father will set His infinite anger and power and dishonor you! The Gospel is like God's gracious offer to you to honor His Son with Himself, by true repentance of love toward His Son and, thus will honor you with eternal life at His side because you honored His Son. But if you dishonor His Son by not believing, repenting and loving His Son, God will dishonor you will eternal death wrapped in Hell's flames. Honor the Lord Jesus Christ and God will honor you. Dishonor the Lord Jesus Christ and God will dishonor you its really that simple. John 5:23 "All should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him." How do you honor the Father? John 5:44, "How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God." The answer is that you seek honor from God by seeking to honor the Son. What I implore does the Jesus Christ say for how we should honor Him, like a friend should honor another beloved friend? John 16:27, "The Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God." Here you honor the Son by loving Jesus and actually believing He is the Divine beginningless Son of the Living God. You must posses that genuine faith and adoration of the Person of Jesus Christ: His Divinity, His humanity, and what His bloodshed accomplished. Do not do these things and God will not love or honor you, but dishonor you. Thus, not to love and believe Jesus is the Divine Son of God is to dishonor Him. John 14:23, "Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." The Father will honor you to come and live with Him in eternal joy with Him if you love and do those things His Son asked us to do. The opposite would be to dishonor the Son. Furthermore, this is also said in, John 15:14, "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." Matthew 4:17, "From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent." Accordingly, in Mark 2:17, "Jesus ...said to them... I come to call ...sinners, to repentance." What type of sincere repentance is the standard that God will accept as true Honor to His Son, which He requires? What type of repentance will He in return Honor you and not dishonor you, because your repentance was not up to His standard? I believe the first commandment will sum this up nicely and then simply allow the Lord Jesus give personal commentary to what this means in real life. The first commandment instructs us to love the lord thy God will all your heart, mind, soul and strength. What does this look like in real life? Luke 18:22, "So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." Matthew 13:44 " Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
Let us remember we were one who brought in all this hate. We made ourselves God's enemies. We did the disobedience and God is the violated Person. God is the offended party as we are the ones who turned our backs on Him and, if you would, committed cosmic treason against God by slapping Him in the Face. Every time we sin it is as though we defy God's right to rule over us. But this is a major issue as Jesus Christ tells a parable about Himself as King. Luke 19:27, "'But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me." God is our ruler and rightfully so by virtue of Him being our Creator. If God gives laws for us to perform under His Kingdom (All reality or existence is God's kingdom. If you are in existence then you are under God's rule.), then we must obey them perfectly. Matthew 5:48, "Be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect." When we sin (disobey) we are breaking ourselves away from under God's rule. This then makes you God's hated enemy! Luke 19 makes the direct connection that not fully obeying God's rule makes you His enemy. Sin also had another devastating issue. It has a corroding influence upon the soul. The more sin grows in any person the more sin grows hatred for God in the heart! John 7:7, "The world hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil." Sin loves sin. Therefore, a sinner loves sin. This is why a sinner hates God, because God is perfect purity and Holiness and He always detests sin. Therefore, people hate God because God hates the very thing they love, which is lawlessness and sin. This puts the two at complete opposites, as enemies. This means there are two great problems that arise from the reality that sin is a defiance of God and His rule. The First is by far the worst for it makes Yahweh your enemy! Who can stand against such an Enemy who will not compromise justice and has infinite power at His disposal. The second is that sin and disobedience enslaves the heart to hate God back. The human situation concerning our sin is one of the utmost dire positions.
Peace with God is the first fruit of the cross:
Now we come to the full circle in finding out what is the first and foundational goal that the bloodshed of the Lord Jesus accomplished. With such problems which comprise of us rebelling against God's rule, His wrath on us and Hell's fires in the foreground coming for us, therefore, the prospect of bringing in PEACE is the first and most important obstacle to over come. If a sinner wishes to enjoy fellow with His good God, then peace with God must be the first goal to be accomplished. Christ fully dissolves both enmities on the cross and, therefore, by doing so makes salvation free! This, therefore, is the first main direct result of Christ's bloodshed: Peace! When Christ is introduced to the world by the angles in the field is not introduced as a friend or brother but as a Savior or rescuer! Rescue us from what: the wrath of God. We were guilty sinners who needed to be saved! Luke 2:11, "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." What did John the Baptist say concerning the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ? Luke 3:7-8, "Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come...bear fruit worthy of repentance?" John was preaching that the gospel of Christ was to rescue people from the "wrath to come." This is why John also says, "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" [5] Christ was the clean unblemished Lamb to take away our sin so that in doing so Christ is taking away God's coming wrath to us because of our sin. Us minus our sin means God has no more coming wrath for us. This is why Christ bled to death because He was taking our punishment for us in our place. This is why when the same Angels who told of the arrival of a "savior" then sang this song of praise: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" [6] With our sin removed and God's wrathful and righteous justice expelled on and absorb by Jesus Christ on the cross the church is now at "peace" with God the Father. We might not be best friends, because in order to have that honor you must be positively "righteous" (more on that later) as well, but at this point God is at perfect peace with us, our debt has be paid in full. God's righteousness and wrath was satisfied as Jesus took it for us in our place. God gladly for His Son's sake looks upon us who believe in Him as totally clean and without sin! Praise God we have Peace though the Bloodshed of Christ our Lord!
Ephesians 2:12-18, "You were without Christ...having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity...to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross. He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father." Before God dishonoring sinners can come and even think about experiencing infinite joy that comes from being in sincere loving relationship with the Almighty Father, our sin and God's wrath must be taking care FIRST; this is the first issue and necessity of the bloodshed of Jesus Christ the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:3, "I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures." To drive this point more notice the first thing that Jesus Christ the Lord says to His disciples from rising from the grave. John 20:19, "... Peace be with you." These are His first words to His disciples because now after His bloodshed and the resurrection -being as the Father's public sign of accepting His Son's suffering for our sins- that Jesus says, "Peace be with you." Now that His disciple's sin, are in real time fully dissolved and removed by the payment of His bloodshed, He First tells His brethren the relation, fellowship and relationship that is between the God and man is "peace." Before Christ was peaceful to His brethren because He knew that although they were still in their sins yet Christ looked upon them in the future state of His blood cleaning and removing their shame. But now the removal of their sins by His bloodshed and the cleaning of its sprinkling upon their hearts was actual fully accomplished and realized! Now Christ looks at them no more to a future time of them being forgiven, but as now already fully forgiven and, therefore, only total and actual "peace" remains for sinless and forgiven saints now grafted into His mystical body. Now at this point all righteous angry, God the Father, had toward all elected sinners (including the disciples) was now in past tense fully expelled on Jesus Christ; all this anger for sin had been expelled out of the Father onto His Son for taking our sin upon Himself. Therefore, if all the Father's anger for our sin has fully been released and righteously absorbed, then what emotion is left that the Father feels toward these persons? "Peace be with you." All anger is gone and now only peace remains. Christ says peace be with us because the reality was FIRST that the Father had mountains of righteous fierce anger toward us for rebelling, backstabbing and breaking away from His good rule-ship (this is called Sin)! To try to imagine this not true to is to disqualify yourself from the grace of Jesus Christ bloodshed! For this was the very reason Christ suffered so horriblely; to take away our Sin. This is evident as John the Baptist plaques this to the Lord Jesus at the inauguration of His ministry. John 1:29, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
Therefore, our first major concern was the fact we are sinners who have rebelled against our good King and are fully under the righteous anger of our King. This must be solved first before we can begin dreaming of entering any kind of real joy and happiness from being in relation of close personal fellowship with our Wonderful King again. The Lord Jesus Christ has done this by the Value of His Godship and voluntary bloodshed for our sins, by standing for us in our place of condemnation. Before we were dead in our sins and dead under the judgment of God's rightful wrath, but now by believing in Christ's bloodshed we first have "peace" then also "life." "Peace be with you." John 20:31, "These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name." To anyone who feels shameful, dirty and guilty know this. How great must God's ability to bring peace to you be, if the very first goal that Christ reached for was to bring you true peace by removing your sins! God does not fail; and He did not fail from bringing you peace though His Son Jesus Christ. The Son has INFINITE value being the very pleasure and happiness of the Father. [7] Therefore, the Son has the ability to purchase INFINITE grace and sin-removing-mercy by such endless intrinsic worth. Accordingly, the Son is the Father's very pleasure itself, therefore, it is the Fathers greatest and highest aim to honor and grant His Son's request. And guess what the Son has requested? That all those who believe in Him to have their sins eternally removed, to have them given His righteousness, to be given to Holy Spirit to dwell in their hearts and finally to be brought in the greatest possible enjoyment of the Trinity possible! You might say: all I need to do is simply believe? Yes. It is almost; no it is embarrassing to consider that in order for us to be saved the Lord Jesus literally had to do everything Himself! After He literally did everything that was needed in order for us to be saved from our sins the only thing left for us highly potential human beings is merely believe. It embarrassing that we humans had so messed up our lives by our sin and treachery against God that we were helpless to solve it. Praise God that Jesus voluntarily came down to this dirty planet and thoroughly did every big and little thing to save us. For those who now believe in Him and what His bloodshed accomplished they no longer live under the law and rules, but of love to their Lord Jesus Christ. They seek to fully avoid sin, not because they are trying to serve a rule but rather because they Love their Savior and hate to bring Him any such dishonor. They are glad to lie themselves in the dust so that they dare not boast of any self-reliance or self-sufficiency. They take no pleasure is self exalting thoughts. They strongly desire and are fully content to only exalt and make famous their Lord and Savior. The honor of God's majesty demands the condemnation of sinners, but Christ thoroughly repaired this demand of God's majesty by His bloodshed. For those who know this, the Lord Jesus Christ becomes the most precious jewel of greatest price. Matthew 13: 45-46 " Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, "who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it."
Last thoughts of encouragement:
Allow me to add this encouragement to the person with the fear that God does not love them or has angry thoughts toward them. Christ the Lord, dieing on the cross satisfied God's wrath! If you believe God has angry feelings toward you, look at the bloody cross and see that all of God's anger and wrath was finished there. Survey the wonderful cross and you will see that the Son of God made an end of all your sin! Accordingly, there is no more wrath or anger left, for Christ absorbed it all. This is the reason why the cross was so bloody! Why, I ask, did the Son of God, the center of the Fathers love, cry out: "with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" There is only one reason why the Son of God, the center of God's infinite love, was actually and tangibly forsaken by His Father of love: Christ actually and tangibly, by imputation, took our sin and, therefore, actually absorbed God's furious anger, because the Father actually and tangibly looked upon His Son as if He committed our sin! All of the Lord God's furious hatred concerning your sin, if you're a true believer, as already been released upon Christ the Lord. God the Father has only love and kind intentions for you now and forever more; this is all owning to Jesus Christ! This is why we worship Him. He is a complete Savior and has made salvation on our part to be totally free! There is no greater testimony and full releasing of God's anger toward sin than God pouring His wrath on His infinitely beloved Son Jesus Christ; His Son took on our sin and punishment. Our sin was transferred to Him, for He requested this to be done as the Godman, and therefore, our punishment was transferred to Him: with one major difference. Christ being the Divine Son of God, eternal, beginningless and possessing of infinite worth was, therefore, an infinitely more valuable sacrifice for sin. In other words because of the Lord Jesus' intrinsic value, His willing and loving obedience to the Father to die for our sins, was infinitively more valuable and precious and satisfying, to His heart of justice, than if he merely punished a human who only posses finite value. Even if all mankind suffered in Hell as God the Father released His intense anger on us for our sin, this would not be as great a testimony or full releasing of His anger than what happed on the cross! Because the Father was still willing to pour His fierce anger on His beloved Son, even though He took our sin when He was sinless, this demonstrates the lengths to which the Father desired to go to show His pure hatred of SIN! Therefore, we have the highest encouragement to come to the Throne of Grace with all faith and peace. We know all our sin was removed in the most complete and full manner! We must believe in all faith that God's specific anger of each of our sins has 2,000 year ago underwent the most full and complete releasing of all its rage. Furthermore, there is no more anger or rage left; it has already been released fully on His Son Jesus Christ! Thus for the believer: Only love remains! Only Love remains! Only Love remains!
Summary:
The first goal concerning the bloodshed of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, was to bring peace: particularly to change the attitude and judgment of God toward every sinner whom Christ died for. This attitude and Judgment was fierce wrath, vengeance and anger. [8] Therefore, if there is to be any grounds for a human to enjoy the presence or fellowship of God and His Glory, then first this anger of God toward us had to be taken care of before any other benefit could come. Meaning, how ridiculous it is to seek to enjoy God's presence when the Lord God hates us, viewing us as enemies, and is waiting to send every sinner to Hell in the presence of fire's heat. Therefore, the Son of God came as a Savior [9]and by the worth of His Divinity and loving wiling obedience, even to the point of a cross, Jesus had our sin translated or imputed to Him, and thus had God's anger removed from us. What this means is that the suffering and bloodshed of the Lord Jesus Christ was not a nice add on or just one particular way for a human to have God's wrath removed from them, but Christ' suffering was a: necessity, an absolute must, a had to. Therefore, the Apostle when summing up the essence of preaching the gospel sums it up by saying that the Person Jesus Christ, "had to suffer", (Emphases added) Acts 17:3, so that we might have peace with God. Romans 5:1, "We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." How again do we have this peace? Hebrews 10:4, "It is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins." This means only a human could take, have translated or imputed on them the punishment that another human commits. God is stating that no other creature, angel or anything is able to take away the sins of a human by taking its punishment for them. God the Judge is declaring in His courtroom of Heaven if a human commits sin, in God's eye's if any other creature, no mater how intelligent and moral or not, is simply inadequate to takes the punishment for a human's sin. But if all humans have sinned, having no righteousness of their own, then what hope does any human being have of not one day undergoing punishment from God, for the sins they committed, since God has already said that the soul sins will die! [10] The whole world must utter the words found in Matthew 23:33, "How can [any one] escape the condemnation of hell?" The answer is that we must have our sins removed so that the punishment for those sins will also be removed from coming to us! This is why God our Father promised that most needed and undeserved mercy when He declared this through His Holy prophet, Romans 11:27, "This is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." God promised to take away our sin. How is this possible since there is no human worthy and righteous enough to take another humans punishment? Most wonderful then are the words proclaimed by John the Baptist, John 1:29, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" Jesus Christ, the Divine eternal Son of God, clothed Himself in human flesh and so was both: (1) worthy enough and (2) human enough, in the sight of the Lord God, in His courtroom, according to His standards, request to have our sin, and therefore, our punishment translated unto Himself and so "take away our sins." This means all our sins and, therefore, any reason for God to punish or hate us is 100%: gone, removed, taken away, wiped clean so that all God has for us in His courtroom, according to His standards is peace and goodwill. Hebrews 13:20, "Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete." Luke 2:14, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" [1]Genesis 2:17, and for the "curse" read the law God gave to the Israelites and you will find numerous curses that came if you disobeyed God's law. [2]Luke 7:31-32, "And the Lord said, ‘To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: "We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep." (Also see Luke 21:34-36, Luke 8:14) Jesus' generation were childish children in the sense that they were so busy about trivial play and worldly business that they made themselves unable to understand the seriousness or see the glory which God was displaying through Jesus Christ. Beware that this does not happen to you, for it is a warning from our Lord Himself! [3]Take notice that the people to whom Jesus preached to, never said they don't "need" Him to save them, they always said that they hated or disbelieved Him if they rejected Him. [4]Colossians 1:18, "And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence [Supremacy]." Ephesians 1:10, "[The Fathers will is] that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth -- in Him." (book: God never fails) [8]Revelation 19:15,"Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He [Christ] Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God." Psalm 7:11, "God is angry with the wicked every day." [9]Luke 2:11, "There is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior." [10]Ezekiel 18:20, "The soul who sins shall die." |
