Thessalonians 1: 9 –10, “These shall be punished with ever lasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the Glory of His power,  when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be Admired among all those who believe…”

Matthew 9:8, “Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.”

I remember a story my friend told back during my early twenties. He was recalling when he took a road trip with some friends after high school.  During this time one of the place’s they had stopped at was the Grand Cannon.  He said after they had parked the car they took a short cut through some near by bushes, all the while pushing and joking with each other. When they had just barely gotten past the bushes they had run right up on the edge of the Cannon.  Immediately all their joking and kidding stopped for they were all in complete awe of the sight before them.  All their minds and emotions were caught up at the sight. And for a few moments they had forgotten all about their trip, their plans, for the next day, their girlfriends, and even their disappointments. They were experiencing the pleasure of marveling and admiring at greatness.

From this little example I would like to bring up the point that the ultimate end for which God has created human beings is for His Glory. But he has done it in such away that it is their enjoying Him, which gives Him Glory.  God is honored and Glorified when He is understood by the mind and rejoiced in by the heart. Both our mind and emotions need to be immersed in knowing and enjoying the One Supreme Great being of all.  Or to put it in a little more detail. To stand before and savor the endless Value of the Glory of Christ, as God in His kindness shows to us the endless riches of His Grace. We were born and created for this one great purpose, to Glorify our God by admiring Him forever.

God created us to admire greatness, which is Himself.  Yes, not only does scripture testifies to this ( 2 Thessalonians  /  John 17:24  /  Philippians 3:8  / Colossians 1:27  /  Psalm 16:11  /   Deuteronomy 28:47-48  /  Deuteronomy 6:5  -  Luke 10:27  /  Mathew 25: 21  /  Mathew  13:44-46  /  Romans 6:22  /  Romans 9:23  / Romans 15:8-9  /  Ephesians 1:18  /  Ephesians 2:7,10  /  Ephesians 3:8  / Hebrews 11:6, 25-26  /  Peter 1:13  /  Revelation 21:6  /  Revelation  22. 17  /   John 6:35  /  Jeremiah 2:11-13 ) but logical reasoning reaches for the same conclusion. Yes reasoning testifies to the fact as scripture dose that the greatest pleasure a created human being can experience is the pleasure of admiring or marveling.  All of life and nature inspires the same thought.

Why do we love to watch movies?, movies with our greatest super hero always winning, or favorite actor who has the perfect love story.  Why do we long to be entertained so much? Whether it is the next big vacation, or falling in love, sex, a day at a beautiful beach, or eating the best food, seeing a star light sky, or driving the coolest car, or being the next to win the lottery or just daydreaming all the time, why?

Because God has made mankind like this for a reason to point to something. Remember it is not by chance we are this way; God is not a God of accident but of eternal divine wisdom and counsel. God has orchestrated all things life and history for a reason, mainly to point to Him for his Glory and honor.

For the example: Christ prays to the father before He is crucified, "that the love we share might be in them.”  Every time we see a great-clouded skyline or the night lighted up by the stars and drift into the joy of marveling at that greatness. It reminds us of the truth that we were created us to marvel and admire Jesus Christ, which is the greatest pleasure a finite created creature can experience. If God is the infinite Supreme happy Being, the “beginning and the end” and is the overflowing fountain of perfect moral beauty and is one Chief creator of all things, which means He is the standard for which all things are to be placed against and thus the greatest reality of value and worth, then logic shows along with scripture that we communicate this to be true when we delight in our God as such.
