- The Call to be separated unto God -
Yesterday was Sunday and on this Holy day of rest God was busy working as He always is, but specifically I found the Invisible God was working in my heart. The start of this week ends a 2-week fast for me from certain entertainments. I completely avoided my favorite web forum called “Planet Wisdom” and other than for necessities I stayed way from the internet and even avoided extra TV watching which I normally did not. I did all this to have more free time to focus on the Living God and also avoid from having my mind numbed and trivialize by banal entertainments, which I do believe now more than ever is the root cause of many spiritual sickness in Gods Holy Church. They(the church) avoid the obvious evils(mostly) but their lives are for the most part wasted and their hearts turned from the Living God, the Fountain of Living waters, by seemly innocent in themselves, worldly entertainments. Oh Lord, keep me from wasting my life.
During Worship I found God in a very wonderful delightful way whispering in my heart. To my delight I found the Holy Spirit telling me something to do, which surprisingly was the very thing I already was thinking and wishing to do. God confirmed to me as He showed me in the past two weeks the pleasure that comes from diligent and wholehearted pursuit of God, which means letting go even so-called innocent worldly entertainments. What I learned, in a more personal way, is the deeper meaning when the bible says to seek God diligently with your “whole heart”. It does not mean just to avoid bad things. Instead seeking God with your whole Heart is pursuing ONLY those things that will lead Your HEART, MIND, and Soul to the only sure foundation of Jesus Christ. The emphasis is on the word ONLY. Being filled with trivial things no mater how innocent they are in themselves is the degree you are not being filled, “with the Holy Spirit”. All of life teaches us the simple wisdom you can be only be filled with One thing at a time. If you are not filled with just one item then you are NOT filled with any thing, but only mixed. God’s call is clear we are not to be mixed, why, because we are to be “filled with the spirit”. With means even being filled the trivial neutral thoughts, which are doing nothing to increases the Kingdom of God in your life or those around, means we are not filled with loving thoughts toward Jesus Christ. But God has already made it clear in the Lords prayer that we are to be intentional and passionate about the whole earth being filled with the Glory of God, not just neutral and lukewarm. What will you be filled with, God or other.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father All Glory to Your Holy Name. The same Name by which the heavens were made and my Salvation planned in love. Thank You for all You are and have and will do. You are Great in all Your infinite perfections, and in all that You do. My heart is filled will all Joy inexpressible and boasting in You, that You have called me to a closer fellowship to You, Your Son and Holy Spirit. What a miracle it is that a sinner and enemy of God is now a beloved son being asked to sit closer to his Heavenly Father. Oh Lord grant what you command, and give what you ask of me. I feel so inadequate and my hands to weak to carry out what you have asked of me. Though you know my heart is of vastly different sorts than of my weak flesh. But You also know the sincere desire I have for You there in my heart. Help me to forsake this world and all its entertainments. Help me, by Your grace, to bring other people to this as well for Your Glory of Your Son and His Fame. Tie my wandering heart to Your courts above. I have sought you will my whole heart. Lord help my unbelief. Grant that this world goes strangely dim and Your Son grows gloriously bright. May this, oh Living God be so with the whole church, wherever they may be. I want to be a faithful steward and pursue only those things, which bring me, closer to Thee. Oh kind Father to Who alone is Immortal and Wise be all Glory and Honor forever and ever, in Jesus Christ I pray my lord, Savior and treasure for all the endless ages come! Amen.
