Since God’s passion is for his Glory, then we now know that by: (1.) Enjoying His Glory of His Son as the Greatest treasure(Matthew 13:44)and (2.) helping others to do the same, and (3.) by living our lives to “make known” His Supremacy and Preeminence and Frame, that in this we truly show we love Him, for this the very reason why He created us.
1 Peter 4:11, “ Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen”
Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Philippians 1:11, “having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”
2 Corinthians 4:15, “For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.”
2 Corinthians 4:7, “but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”
1 Corinthians 8:6, “…there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.”
Therefore the sum of it all is this, let it be said God doing “all things” for His “Glory” is the best “Good news” in the world for us sinners. Because “the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”(Matthew 13:43) When we behold the Glory of the sun shining forth the praise of God as it sets and rises, it is obvious to “shine” forth the “praise of His Glory” is a very Awesome and Joyous thing to be apart of. What more could you want, unless you are in more love with cares of this world and its “fleeting pleasures”, than Supremacy of Jesus Christ.
Lastly I would like to show how knowing God’s passion for His Glory and Supremacy is not only helpful in teaching us to fear God, or giving us guidelines in how to teach or preach but in how it helps us to LOVE God much more than if we didn’t know the true depths of Gods love for His Glory.
People like John Calvin, Martin Luther, Jonathan Edwards, A. W. Pink, and even John Piper, who show large concern in trying to give God all the Glory which He deserves in all situations are people who show they are in love with God and His # one Passion. We know what Gods Greatest passion is; therefore we know how to express our love to Him by joining Him in it, which is by displaying, enjoying and living for His Glory.
The truest and most basic way of showing our love to an individual is to make that person happy. Or seeing that person souls cry for happiness, peace and satisfaction are met. Now God has shown us He loves us by taking us from death and punishment to eternal life, which translates into everlasting Happiness and “pleasure forever more”(Psalm 16:11), by knowing Jesus Christ our Lord.
Since God made us then He would know best what our souls need to be satisfied, which is Greatness. And the fact will always remain God is the Greatest Greatness in the universe. Therefore He shows us His Glory through Jesus Christ, by the means of His Blood being a propitiation for our sins. God demonstrates His love for us, in that He joined with us in our pursuit for satisfaction and therefore He led us to the Cross of Jesus Christ.
Therefore if we know what God is most passionate about, or what is the true source of His own pleasure then we should know best how to show our love to Him by joining Him in that pursuit. And since God’s passion is for his Glory, then we now know that by: (1.) Enjoying His Glory of His Son as the Greatest treasure(Matthew 13:44)and (2.) helping others to do the same, and (3.) by living our lives to “make known” His Supremacy and Preeminence and Frame, that in this we truly show we love Him, for this the very reason why He created us.
Conclusion: My goal is to show that religion, at is core, is about loving God with all our hearts, not in a list of dues and not, or about emotionless duties. Why else would Jesus say, “I never knew you”(Matthew 7:23) to people who were obviously performing highly regarded Christian duties. Christ accused them of the following, “depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” They practiced a form of empty unprofitable religion. Why, because it was not done in, above all things, sincere flowing from the heart, Love for God and His Son. They did not long for, Desire, Love, Admire and tremble before God above all things. This is why we have been talking about the Glory of God being reveled. It is very important to know what God is primarily doing. Because if God is, above all things, making Himself “known” through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, then it has huge implications for how we should approach life and religion.
