Moses in Exodus 33 asked the question, “Show me your Glory”. To which God did show Moses His Glory, in chapter 34. But at the same time God only showed Moses His “back”. Upon seeing this Glorious sight of God Moses’ face shone with light. So much so that he put a veil on His face so the people at the time would not be afraid to look at him. It is amazing to think how Moses’ face shown with light from just seeing the “backside” of the All Glorious Being.

Corinthians 4:6, “For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” Please notice in the above scripture the Glory of God is being manifested, as with Moses. Then notice which part of God is being shown. Is it His backside as it was before? No. This time the very “Face” of Gods Glory is being shone through the “face of Christ”. If Christ is God himself as He is, then if we see the face of Christ we have also seen very the Face of God as well.

Jesus is the light to the world, both as a light of hope and a light illuminating the true Glory of the Father. Example Psalm 119:130, “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.”  As much as David saw God illuminated in the words of the commandments, how much more does the One, who is the very “Word or God”, who by His words the worlds were created, display the True Glory of God by His marvelous light. Christ illuminated infinitely greater the true excellence of God the Father than the whole creation as a whole ever did. Christ, who is God Himself gives us the purest, most perfect and most wonderful display of the Fathers true “Glory”, “light” and “beauty”.

In Romans Chapter 1 verses 19-20 we are told creation does a great job of displaying many of Gods majestic attributes. So well in fact, every human on earth is responsible if they don’t believe and Glorify God as their benevolent Creator. But compared to the Glory represented to us in Christ the whole of creation is as nothing. Here is how John Owens puts it in his book, “The glory of Jesus Christ”.

“In beholding the glory of this infinite wisdom of God in Christ, we behold his own glory also,—the glory given him of his Father; for this is his glory, that in and by him, and him alone, the wisdom of God is manifested and represented unto us. When God appointed him as the great and only means of this end, he gave him honor and glory above the whole creation; for it is but little of divine wisdom which the works of it declare, in comparison of what is manifested in Christ Jesus. We no way deny or extenuate the manifestation that is made of the wisdom of God in the works of creation and providence. It is sufficient to detect the folly of atheism and idolatry; and was designed of God unto that end. But its comparative insufficiency with respect unto the representation of it in Christ as to the ends of knowing God aright and living unto him—the Scripture does abundantly attest…. That in the beholding of the glory of God in Christ, we behold His(God) glory also. For herein is he infinitely glorious above the whole creation, in that in and by him alone the glory of the invisible God is represented unto us. Herein do our souls live. This is that whereby the image of God is renewed in us, and we are made like unto the first-born.” (John Owen , Glory of Jesus Christ)
