Standing
on the premise God's glory or essence is His infinite wisdom, infinite moral
perfection (heart)[1] and infinite
happiness I will press forward. To say
what God's glory is even more simplified would be to say: God is an infinitely
glorious soul. This is who God is. Furthermore, God is Spirit. He does not have a body. He is an invisible infinite Spirit or
soul. He is infinite energy in
one constant unstoppable motion. He is,
The Infinite Existence, as His Name Yahweh describes. This is why Yahweh's glory, or His essence,
or that He being an invisible Spirit or Soul means He is: infinite wisdom, holiness
and happiness itself. When
conceiving of God's many sundry and wonderful attributes they can all be traced
back to these three, or back to the core of His infinitely glorious Soul
This means Yahweh's wisdom or moral perfection
such as justice or mercy is not an aspect of who He is; it is His complete
Soul. For example you can properly say
my attitude or legs, or spirit, or body, or soul, or thoughts, particular
actions are aspects of who I am.
This is because we are finite and therefore made up of parts. Consider when a person dies that they are
removed from their physical body. But
they are still whole enough so that they are still fully themselves. For the saints who have died are right now
in heaven enjoying the rays of Christ and are called by Name. But this is not so with Yahweh. He is infinite knowledge, holiness and
happiness itself; and therefore, wisdom, justice and mercy is not
aspects of God but is God. God is the Infinite
Existence, because He is infinite in His knowledge, moral heart and
happiness. This is why He is an
invisible Spirit not needing a body.
Infinity cannot be stopped, cannot be contained.
This is to say God's love, or wisdom or happiness
is His power itself. Power is not
properly an aspect or individual attribute of God as it is His moral
perfection, knowledge and happiness being an unstoppable force itself, because
they are infinite. Infinite
desire is infinite power!
Infinite love or infinite knowledge is infinite power. [2] IF God desires something this desire of God
is infinity itself, but infinity cannot be stopped; therefore God's desire
itself as infinity reaches out and actually makes His want reality. God's wisdom is this power; God's moral
perfection is His power; God's happiness is His power itself. This is why God does not need a body. Mankind being finite needs to be visible and
needs a body to cause our thoughts, our moral pleasures and choices to be
reality. Our desires have no great
power. Our physical body is the power
or aspect, which expresses our minds and thoughts. Yet God is not so limited.
Yahweh's desires are infinite, and therefore, power or causality itself. Yahweh is on a whole other level here
compared to all creation and creatures no matter how great they appear.
This has a particular application to which I want
to focus on. By despising a particular
part of God's justice or wisdom or love is to despise Himself, or His soul
itself. I might dislike an aspect
of a person's physical appearance (such as a scar) or personality and still not
dislike them or their soul. This is so
because man being finite accordingly and truly has many parts. Therefore, you can dislike one part but love
the vast majority and so properly say you do not dislike them but love
them. But this cannot be applied
to God.
God is an invisible infinite soul. Yahweh is not made up of parts as finite
creatures, for His is infinite. A true
Infinite (not a mathematical infinite) cannot be made up of parts, for that
would be contradiction. A true infinity
without beginning or end, eternal and the necessary cause cannot be made up of
parts. To say an infinite amount of
parts makes up this true infinity is nonsense and irrational. For all you would have is a great number of
parts, but not the infinity which is the necessary cause. For parts are not causes but effects.[3] An infinite thing cannot be comprised of
parts. No mater its size it is as far
from being infinite as a speck of dust.
An infinite untold number of galaxies are as close to infinite as a single
pebble. Saturn, which is made up of
many parts, is as close to infinite as a speck of dust is. But God is a true infinite.
Because God is not made up of parts everything He
does is Himself and not merely aspects of Himself. What God does is not an expression of His
hands, for He has none. To say it in a
negative way, God is nothing more than an infinite glorious Soul. All what He does is nothing more than a prefect
expression of His infinite Soul.
Therefore, what Yahweh expresses of Himself are not aspects of Himself
but a prefect expression of His Soul.
What God does is not an expression of parts of Himself like creatures
do, but an expression of His infinite Soul.
What Yahweh does is a full expression of Himself.
Justice for example is not one part of God it is
God. Because God is infinite
wisdom, moral justice, love, goodness, and happiness these are not parts but
one essence or one seamless energetic motion. His Infinite wisdom, moral perfection and happiness is one
prefect infinite Soul.
This is similar to how God is 3 Persons, but is
still one Being or essence. The 3
Persons of the Trinity are so much the same; they are One. Finite is always made up of parts. True Infinity can only be made up of one. God's is an infinite Soul; or that His
justice and wisdom and happiness are in essence one seamless infinite soul
or energy.
As light has many
colors yet is one essence of light this is somewhat how it is with God. Light is light, but naked to the visible eye
are many glorious colors, which a prism will manifest. Still light is finite; God is infinite so
that He cannot be divided.
Yet Ephesians 2:4 appears to show that from God's
love, mercy flows out. So that in a
sense as colors are distinct within light and can individually be more
displayed as parts so can God's soul.
Mercy, justice, wisdom, and delights of God can be seen, in a sense,
as parts of God's soul. But on the ultimate
sense beneath God's displaying His mercy or justice or whatever individual
attribute is the rest of His infinite soul acting as one seamless perfect
motion. Within God's decision to show mercy
is infinite wisdom, infinite moral goodness, and His infinite happiness as
one perfect act. God does not
arbitrarily make a choice or perform an action. Behind every action of displaying His soul, even if it seems it
is just one aspect is His soul, it is His total soul working as one motion. See, as finite humans we often make choices
of mercy or evil without a thought of wisdom behind it. Therefore, much of what we do is not a true
full expression of us. God is not so
limited or foolish. Beneath every
action is God's infinite wisdom, infinite moral goodness, and infinite
happiness. Therefore, whatever
Yahweh does, whatever attribute is display: it is in a true sense a prefect
expression of His total infinite and glorious Soul.
Therefore, there is
not the option to despise or dislike one part of God and love the rest, for
that is a contradiction: that is impossible.
Fools talk in this irrational and evil manner. It is a lie and impossible to say, I dislike the aspect of God's
justice in predestining but love the rest of God's actions and goodness. It is evil and irrational because the
justice of God in election and predestining is not an aspect of Him: it is
Himself! If you dislike God's
justice you dislike God's Soul, for this justice is His Soul; there is no other
option. Justice is not one part or
aspect of God it is God; it is the true expression of His infinite soul!
Approaching the end of his letter, Paul in Romans
11, sums up God's justice, goodness and sovereignty to predestine as a loving
praise of His wisdom. If you dislike
God's wisdom in this then you despise God Himself, for His wisdom, which is His
infinite Soul, is God Himself.
For this wisdom is a true and prefect expression of His glorious
Soul. This wisdom is not an expression
of His hand or just one aspect of God, but is the true express of His total
Soul. So if dislike His wisdom you
dislike God's Soul. But if you love
God's wisdom here, if you love His moral justice here, if you
love is sovereign happiness to do what He wants here, then you love
God's Soul or Himself. For this is who
God is to us, His glorious Soul on display for us to love and enjoy in Christ!
The
question facing us in light of this is straightforward: do we love God? Jesus Christ Himself answers what this looks
like in Mark 12:30, "you shall love the
LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and
with all your strength.' This is the first commandment." I have said
this before but I believe it bears repeating.
The Greek word for love in this verse, which Jesus Christ spoke,
is mostly dealing with the affection, inclination or emotional
part of what love is. It is referring
to what has first place in your desires, or what do you long for the most. It is right that in context of other
Christians this Greek word means strong friendship. But it means strong friendship out of great affection, desire and
inclination. Therefore, when Jesus
Christ gives the world His first commandment it is simply to desire, long for
and be contented with God Himself, as first place and strongest above
all.
Do you dear reader feel love
for God in your heart above all others?
Is He first in your affections and emotions? If so then use all your mind, life and strength to express this
deep warm affection that you say you have for Him, if indeed you speak the
truth?
Therefore,
to love God is not a religious acting.
Hypocrites live in this way. We
must seek what is true religion, what is real.
Here we learn what is true religion.
When we see God's creation,
which is nothing more than the perfect[4]
expression of His infinitely glorious soul we must love, desire and have
strongest affections for this beauty we are beholding, for this is the beauty
of His total Soul and not one aspect of God. When we see God's mercy displayed on the cross in Christ's
precious bloodshed for us we must see this as a prefect expression of God's
infinite soul. Whereas creation is a
prefect expression of God's infinite soul, Jesus Christ in the gospel is also
as prefect expression of God's infinite but as much, much more. See, as creation is a candle perfectly
expressing light, Jesus Christ in the gospel is a sun perfectly expressing
light. Both express properly what light
is, but the sun and Jesus Christ abundantly and boundlessly does much
more. Jesus Christ being God Himself
expresses God's Soul even infinitely more than creation's beauty does. Furthermore, when we see God's justice in
the damnation of sinners and choosing not to elect or save all mankind we must
see this as a perfection expression of God's infinitely beautiful Soul and love
Him, for this is Him and not a part of Him.
You hate this you hate God's Soul.
For indeed all true Christians will love God's soul properly. Even the sweetest grandmother who could not
even lift a finger to harm a fly will sing with the saints the song in the
beginning of Revelation 19. She will do
so because Justice is a true expression of God's Soul and all saints love God's
Soul.
I am afraid of much of my
modern preaching counter parts for I hear so little of what it really means to
love God. Loving God is (1)
beholding His infinitely beautiful Soul and (2) feeling overflowing happiness,
desire, affection and intellectually delight and then (3) finally consummating
this in praises, worship and thanksgiving.
I am afraid so many who profess Christ as God and savior have flipped
the first and second command around in their importance. Fulfilling the second command is not
fulfilling the first commandment! So
many miss this glaring point. This is
why these commandments are separated, because they are separate actions in the
ultimate sense, although with some overlap.
To love God is to place the cream and best and fullest of your
affections and admirations personally to Him in faith, meditations,
prayers and praises. Do you love God?
How many
look at the scriptures not for promotion of their dreams, wealth or families,
but look there hoping to only have a glance of an infinitely beautiful Soul
whose Name is Yahweh and His Son Jesus Christ the lord? Who searches the scriptures daily in hopes
to see God's infinite wisdom, mercy, justice, goodness, helpfulness, hatred of
sin and sinners, kindness, thoughtfulness, vengeance, humbleness and love
knowing all of these are prefect expressions and exhibitions of His glorious
soul? Who is willing to be a fool in
order to fall at the foot of the cross seeing the blood, the horror and weakness
and cry out, Save Me! Who is
willing to denounce that all their ideas of what is beauty and wisdom as less
than worthlessness and crawl to God asking Him to show them what true glory,
beauty and wisdom is by showing His infinite soul displayed in Jesus Christ?
Those who are not accustomed
to loving God's infinite Soul by faith now, in Jesus Christ, will not see it in
full sight in heaven. Where upon this
dividing line, dear reader, do you stand?
God knows. Do you see an area in
your life where it is plain God's sovereignty has placed you in suffering for
His Name? Do you despise this? Do not fool yourself for in reality you
dislike God's Soul do you not? For this
is a displaying of His Soul. Repent and
love Him instead. Do you see in God's
sovereignty where He could make fighting certain temptations easier for you,
but does not, because He is testing you?
Do you despise this? Is it not
because you despise His sovereignty and so despise His Soul? A total hypocrite is an unbeliever and will
be condemned to the second death. But a
saint (particularly immature saints) while still on earth will have some
hypocritical areas in their life. If
they repent and turn from their sin they show they are indeed a saint. Those who do not, openly display before the
sight of heaven and men they are properly and thoroughly hypocrites.
Repent and turn to the cross
where God's blood was poured out for our sin.
There, for all, is an infinite ocean of grace for those who are only but
willing to dive in with faith and enjoy its refreshment.
Therefore, take heart for in
displaying His Soul, in Christ Jesus in the gospel, God as displayed His is
rich in mercy for all who are willing to receive Him as their everything. To God be glory forever, Amen!
[1] This moral perfection I will also call
Holiness or God's heart, for they are the same thing in essence.
[2] One way to see this is when you hear someone say, for example, during a
boxing match, he is fighting on spirit or heart along right now. The physical body is expended of its power
but the spirit of the man is somehow fueling it with an unseen power. This is similar when a person is mortally
wounded and is only hanging onto life by the power of their spirit. The body can be tired but by an uplifted
spirit, heart or mind the body can be empower beyond what it is normally
capable of.[2] In this we see how even our own invisible
inner soul has energy to it. But the
Holy Spirit is an infinite heart, if you would, which is to say He is infinite
energy and power itself. He thinks and
it is done, He desires and it is accomplished.
Job 34:14-15, "If He should set His heart on
it, all flesh would perish together." & Zechariah 4:6, "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says
the LORD of hosts."
[3] That is to say ultimately all parts (even
ones which are causes in some capacity) are effects themselves and not a true
cause.
[4] Creation is tainted with corruption but
it is our command and our joy to see the beauty of God left shining through and
admire Him, for it is the beauty of His soul you see! It is God you see.
